WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), with Congressman Hal Rogers (KY-05) voting in favor of the bill. This legislation brings significant victories for the military and national defense, including the largest pay raise in 20 years for U.S. Servicemembers.

The NDAA allocates funds towards military readiness, strengthening defense capabilities, providing support for troops and their families, and enhancing national security against adversarial nations like China. Congressman Rogers emphasized the importance of maintaining military excellence and preparedness in the face of mounting foreign aggression.

"Our military must remain focused and ready to defend our homeland against enemies. This bill supports our servicemembers by providing them with the necessary tools and training for success," said Congressman Rogers. "From improving military housing and childcare to reducing barriers to healthcare and enhancing resources for suicide prevention, this legislation takes care of our military personnel."

In addition to investing in military capabilities, the NDAA also aims to save billions of dollars by strategically cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons systems, and unnecessary bureaucracy. It redirects defense spending towards national security priorities, rather than advancing politically-motivated agendas. The bill also includes a ban on teaching and promotion of Critical Race Theory.

The NDAA addresses funding gaps in the Biden budget and increases authorized funding for crucial military initiatives, such as the Pacific Deterrence Initiative, which is instrumental in countering Chinese aggression. Furthermore, it safeguards the U.S. Navy by preventing the premature decommissioning of critical ships.

Notably, the legislation establishes a process for reinstating servicemembers who were discharged for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine. It also ensures that no adverse actions will be taken against individuals who have not received the vaccine in the future.

With the passage of the NDAA in both the House and Senate, the bill now awaits the President's signature to become law. Congressman Rogers' commitment to supporting the military and national defense is evident in his vote for this crucial legislation.
