Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representatives Hal Rogers (KY-05) and Matt Cartwright (PA-08) have introduced the Transforming Hiring in Rural Industries and Vital Economies (THRIVE) Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at strengthening and creating new economic opportunities in rural areas. The legislation seeks to establish a federal interagency council that will coordinate investments in rural communities, ensuring that federal dollars are maximized for the benefit of these areas.

The THRIVE Act will address a wide range of needs in rural communities, including the conservation of agricultural and working lands, improvements in online educational resources, the strengthening of rural broadband, enhancements in transportation, and other key priorities. By establishing a prominent council in Washington, the bill will advocate for the workforce, natural resources, and opportunities that rural America has to offer.

Congressman Rogers, Dean of the House, expressed his support for the legislation, stating, "Rural America deserves a prominent council in Washington that will advocate for the incredible workforce, natural resources, and abundance of opportunities we have to offer. I'm pleased that this legislation will bring together key decision-makers to prioritize rural needs across various federal agencies to ensure investments are maximized for the benefit of our communities most in need. I'm honored to join my friend across the aisle, Congressman Cartwright, to champion this important legislation for our rural regions."

Rep. Cartwright also emphasized the importance of including rural communities in decision-making processes, saying, "Rural communities deserve a seat at the table. I'm proud to join my Republican colleague Representative Hal Rogers in this bipartisan effort to make sure that the federal government gives rural communities every opportunity for growth and economic development."

The full text of the THRIVE Act can be found on the official website of Congressman Rogers.
