U.S. Representative Hal Rogers has announced that President Donald J. Trump approved an expedited Major Disaster Declaration for Kentucky following a request from Governor Andy Beshear. This declaration is intended to provide federal funding to aid individuals and communities affected by flooding and severe storms that began on February 14, 2025.

The entire Congressional Delegation of Kentucky had previously sent a letter to President Trump in support of the federal declaration, emphasizing the need for assistance in recovering from the devastating storm.

Representative Rogers expressed his gratitude, stating, "I’m grateful for President Trump’s expedited Major Disaster Declaration for Kentucky, which includes public assistance and individual assistance for ten counties. Additional counties may be added as assessments are completed." He also noted the ongoing recovery efforts from previous floods in 2022 and 2021, highlighting Eastern Kentucky's experience with such disasters.

Currently, the declaration provides Individual Assistance and Public Assistance for emergency work in Breathitt, Clay, Harlan, Knott, Lee, Letcher, Martin, Owsley, Perry, and Pike Counties. There is potential for more counties to be included as further assessments are conducted.
