U.S. Representative Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) voted for the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 to prevent a government shutdown on September 30th. The bill extends federal funding through December 20, 2024, past the upcoming election. Both chambers of Congress passed the bipartisan bill on Wednesday, and it now awaits the president's signature.

The legislation allocates $231 million in additional resources for the Secret Service to ensure protection for candidates and government leaders. It also mandates full cooperation from the Secret Service with congressional investigations.

"We have the responsibility to protect the federal programs and funding that Americans rely on every day. This temporary extension will get us through the election, and will allow the president-elect to engage in our next steps," said Congressman Rogers. "We cannot afford a government shutdown or any disruption in our national security, especially when our nation's leadership hangs in the balance of an election that is only weeks away."

Earlier this summer, the House Appropriations Committee passed all twelve federal funding bills, five of which have already been sent to the Senate for consideration.
