5.1% of Laurel County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Laurel County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.1% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 1,342 people out of the 62,090 living in Laurel County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Laurel County has increased compared to the 5% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Laurel County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Of the 24,767 people who had a job during that time, 35 were employed in the Armed Forces and 24,732 belonged to the civilian labor force.
