US Representative Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) has expressed his willingness to assist the families affected by a train derailment and chemical spill in Rockcastle County. The incident, which occurred in the Livingston area, has prompted the evacuation of some families on Thanksgiving Day.

Governor Beshear has declared a State of Emergency for the county and residents in the Piney Branch Road and Livingston areas have been encouraged to evacuate. Rockcastle County Middle School has been prepared to accommodate the affected families, with cots set up for their comfort. CSX, the company responsible for the train, is also providing assistance by offering hotel rooms and food.

Congressman Rogers commended the local volunteer firefighters for their efforts in alerting residents about the chemical spill. He assured the community that he and his staff will maintain communication with local and state officials, offering their support in any way possible. Rogers expressed his sympathy for the families whose Thanksgiving gatherings have been disrupted by the unfortunate incident.
