Painter has standout round at Jordan Bowling Invite
With a terrific showing in the third-round of Saturday's Lynne Jordan Memorial Tournament, David Painter appears to have rolled his way into the Union record books.
Painter, who finished a team-best 28th overall with 995 total pins, was on fire as he recorded a round-best 276 pins in the third round. This was the second best individual round of the entire tournament, trailing only the 279 rolled by Lindenwood's Emmanuel McPherson, the tournament's medalist, in round four.
The 276-pin performance is also believed to be the best single-round performance in the history of the Union College men's bowling program. It is the highest score on record in the school's athletic communications files, though said files are incomplete.
Union finished 14th overall in the 25-team field, recording a total score of 6,853.
The Bulldogs also came in 14th on the women's side, finishing with 6,400 pins. Ashley Hardy was Union's top individual performer, knocking down 978 pins for a 21st-place finish.
