Markelo Sullivan named men's basketball POTW in AAC

A third member of the Union men's basketball team has earned Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors in 2022-23.

It was Markelo Sullivan earning the designation this week, following a three-game stretch where he averaged 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in three Bulldog wins.

He capped that stretch off with a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double, leading all players in both categories in a 71-58 win over Point on Saturday.

It was the second double-double in four games for Sullivan, who has scored in double figures in all nine games he's played for the Bulldogs.

Sullivan is averaging 19.7 points a game since joining the team, and has played a key role in helping Union extend the nation's best conference win streak to 26 games.

His win marked the fourth time this season a Bulldog player has won Player of the Week. Markelle Turner won in the first and third weeks of the season, with Terrin Hamilton capturing it in week two.

Union is back home Wednesday, hosting Milligan at 7:30 p.m.
