City of London Tourism is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Parks Director after existing Parks Director Mackey Williams announced his retirement in December.  

Job Summary

The Parks Director coordinates and directs a city-wide system that includes 4 city parks and Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park. In all, the parks department manages over 900 acres, a year-round campground, swimming pool, and several revenue generating assets.

The department has a significant operating budget, 8 full-time and dozens of part time/seasonal staff. 

Responsibilities also include long and short-term planning related to the development of new park facilities, maintenance and enhancement of existing facilities and working with the Tourism Commission to promote and develop tourism initiatives in London.  

The Commission offers competitive pay, health/dental/vision, and full time employees are members of the Kentucky Public Pension Authority.  

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Business Administration or a closely related field is preferred. 

Five (5) years of management experience in parks/recreation and/or related field is favored.  

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities for this position may be considered.
